1) Replace old washing machine hoses
with new braided stainless steel
hoses for protection against
bursting or rotting. These can be
purchased at your local home
improvement store.
2) Know where your water shut off
valve is located around your home
and know how to turn it off in case
of emergency. The only way to turn
off your water supply is with a
"water key". These water keys can be
purchased at your local home
improvement store.
3) If you are leaving home for an
extended amount of time you may want
to consider turning off your water
completely. It has been our
experience that the most destructive
water damage will come from
prolonged running of water.
4) Replace your hot water heater
before it needs it. Especially pay
close attention to water heaters in
attics. Your plumber should know the
life spam of your hot water heater.
